| Job Descriptions
In order to function the club requires many jobs to be performed on a
voluntary basis. These include tasks performed by commitee members but there are
other roles outside the committee.
Set out below is a summary of the duties of the various committee roles. At a
later date documents will be available that provide more complete 'job
descriptions' to assist new or prospective encumbents to understand what is
required of them.
Duties of Officers:
The Hon. Secretary shall:

call and attend all General Meetings and Committee meetings and take
minutes at them;

submit correspondence and reply to correspondence according to the
directions of any meeting;

keep all records and perform the clerical work of the Club; and

furnish to the Centre the annual "Return of
Clubs" in the manner required by the Centre.
The Hon. Treasurer shall:
- attend all General Meetings and all Committee Meetings and keep the
Committee appraised of the financial position of the Club;
- ensure all monies due to the Club are deposited to the credit of the Club;
- keep proper books of account; and
- prepare and submit to the Members at the Annual General Meeting a duly
audited statement of the financial affairs of the Club.
The Registrar shall:
- keep a Register of names and addresses of the Members;
- keep a record of subscription payments and ensure that fees are paid; and
- furnish to the Centre the register and affiliation fees of Members as
required by the Centre.
The Hon. Race Secretary shall:
- keep a current register of all active Club Members and a record of their
times and other relevant information as may be required by the Committee;
- make the register available for inspection by Members and by Centre
officials;
- handicap Club races and other competitions as required; and
- nominate Club swimmers for representative teams.
The Club Captain shall:
- foster and encourage participation in all Club and inter-Club competitions
and activities; and
- be in charge of non-coaching operations at the pool during Club
activities.
The Vice Captain shall:
- assist the Captain in his or her duties; and
- carry out the duties of the Captain in his or her absence.
The Auditor shall annually audit and report on the books of account of
the Club.
The President shall:
- preside as Chairperson at General Meetings unless otherwise agreed by the
Committee;
- preside as Chairperson at Committee meetings; and
- oversee the smooth running of the Club.
The Vice President shall:
- preside at meetings where the Chairperson is absent; and
- fulfil the duties of President where the President is unavailable.
The Head Coach shall arrange for the coaching of Members and the
education of coaches.
