Wellington Winter Champs Report

Over the weekends of 30/31 August and 6/7 September 2008 the Wellington Winter Championships were held at the Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.  Mana Swimco proudly had a wonderful group of swimmers attending this meet.  The team consisted of: -Mark Anderson, Katie Churchill, Sophie Eason, Dannielle & Reegan Gaualofa, Jordan Harris, Grace & Jonathan Hunter, Holly & Kate Jenkins, Clare Lechner, Aaron, Deborah & Susannah Lynch, Brooke Marsters, Jordan Mellars, Lucy Newton-Smith, Bronagh Ryan, Letitia Saunders, Trent Shields, Natasha Smith, Craig Stapleton, Kahu & Matariki Styles, Bridget & Nicole Tait, Hamish & Josh Trlin, Katie & Nicola Trott, Ben Turner, Callum & Stephanie Watts-Pointer and Sebastian Young.

 

There were some outstanding swims by this group, heaps of personal bests including 148 top ten places and a total of 18 Gold, 7 Silver and 16 Bronze medals (see table below).

 

Well done to all swimmers for participating, cheering and supporting each other. You were all fantastic!!!

 

A huge thank you to Neville and Dennis for coaching and encouraging our swimmers to do their best!

 

Thanks also to the following parents for stepping forward to be team managers and helping with our club’s official duties (IOTs, Time-keeping, duty Top Ten Three

requirements): - Matt Trlin, Ingrid Kristament, Jackie Watts-Pointer, Jo Hunter, Tania Donaldson, Margriet Lynch, Sandra Bednarek, Sarah Tait, Pauline Ryan and Robyn Smith, Steve Shields, Murray Trott, Julie Stapleton, Heather Turner, Brittany Turner, Onolata Little, Carolyn Shields, Glenn Saunders, Mike Lynch, Craig Marsters and Graeme Eason.

At the completion of the Champs the scores (points are allocated to the top ten from each event) are collated with the following results for Mana: -

 

12 & Under: 1st Capital, 2nd Swimzone, 3rd Karori, 4th Porirua, 5th Mana……

Full age group: 1st Capital, 2nd Swimzone, 3rd Karori, 4th Raumati, 5th Mana……

Based on points per number of swimmers from each club:

1st Capital, 2nd Porirua, 3rd Levin, 4th Carterton, 5th Mana……

 

Also there is a further competition for Individual Age Group Champs and Mana is very proud to announce that we had TWO winners: -

9yr and under girls overall winner - Katie Trott

15yr girls overall winner - Bronagh Ryan
