Welcome to Mana Swimco Incorporated

 

Mana Swimco is a not-for-profit community and family oriented swimming club based in Porirua, New Zealand. We are one of the largest swimming clubs in the Wellington region and the oldest in the Porirua basin. Our base is and has always been Cannon's Creek pool in Bedford Street.

To be held at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua (upstairs meeting room) on Friday, 26 June 2009 at 6:30p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to enable all financial members of Mana Swimco Incorporated and Porirua Swimming Club to choose a new club name and colours following the merging of our two clubs. Our major annual fundraiser, the Mana Swimco Division III Carnival was held today. It was a great success and we hope everyone had an enjoyable day. Read a brief report and check results on our results page (this will be updated at a later date with a full report).

Deborah Wins Porirua Young Sportsperson of the Year!

Deborah Lynch was awarded Porirua Young Sportsperson of the Year at the Porirua Sports Awards on the 27 November. She was nominated for her success in triathlon - which, of course, involves swimming! Deborah is a long-standing member of Mana Swimco so we are thrilled for her. Congratulations Deborah. What a great effort.

Susannah Wins National Cross-Country!

MANA SWIMCO PRODUCES A NATIONAL CHAMPION - AGAIN!
 
Following up on her convincing, record-breaking win at the North Island Championships at Taupo on 5th July, and her 2nd placing at the Wellington Championships on 19th July, Susannah Lynch ran her way to GOLD at the National Cross-Country Championships in Waikanae on 2nd August. She covered the 2km course in 7 mins. 36 secs. comfortably beating the second place getter Georgia Harris from Gisborne by 13 seconds.
 
It was the second national title this year for 12-year old Susannah, who at the Junior National Swimming Championships in February won Gold in 200m breaststroke.
 
In her first ever post-race television interview, Susannah was asked how much run training she does. Well....she doesn't! All her fitness and stamina come from her swimming! Come join us and discover what Mana Swimco can do for YOU.

Learn to Swim Term 3

29 June 2008

Our next course of learn to swim lessons begins on 27th July and finishes on 21st September. See the Club Calendar for exact dates. There will be seven lessons at a cost of $40 per child. As usual classes will be at 9:30am (reporting time 9:15am) and 10am (reporting time 9:45am). All first time swimmers should arrive 15 minutes before the reporting time for their lesson to allow time for registration.

Note: There will be no lessons on either 31st August or 7th September as most of our instructors will be at the Wellington Winter Swimming Championships that run over these two weekends.

Holiday Breaks

Squad Swimmers

Squad Swimmers will take a break during the first week of the school holidays 21st - 27th April.

 

Club Swimmers

During the school holidays there will be swimming for Club Swimmers on Monday 21st and 28th April and Friday 2nd May. Club members wishing to do short distance badges are to come at 6pm. Those wanting to attempt the longer distance or 1km timed badges come at 6.45pm. All swimming will finish at 7.30pm.

There is no swimming Friday 25th April (Anzac Day).

AGM Date Changed

9 April 2008

The date for the AGM has changed. It will now take place on Friday 23rd May and

will follow a similar format as last year. There will be a free game of 10-pin bowling for our swimmers while the AGM runs concurrently in a meeting room at Bowland.

Important timings are: -

· Bowling commences 5.45pm

· AGM at 6.30pm

All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Hope to see you there.

Note: Annual prizegiving will be held separately from the AGM this year at a date and place yet to be determined.

Learn to Swim - Term II

9 April 2008

Our next course of Learn to Swim begins on May 11th and finishes on June 29th. The course will consist of seven lessons at a cost of just $40.

Note: There will be no lessons on Sunday June 8th, Queens Birthday.
